THIEF CUT HIS HAND.

GROCERY STORE OF C. N. HALL ENTERED LAST NIGHT.

Several boxes of cigars and a quantity of tobacco taken—Everything around the place smeared with blood.

A burglar broke into C. N. Hall's grocery store last night and helped himself to all the groceries, cigars and tobacco he could carry, but did not succeed in finding much cash.

Entrance was gained by tearing the shutters from a rear window and then breaking the glass over the catch. In doing this the burglar cut his hand and left marks of blood on everything he touched about the store. It would seem that whoever went into the place used a bag for the reception of his booty, for while the cigar boxes were in their accustomed positions their contents were missing.

Mr. Hall said it is impossible to estimate the loss. There were several boxes of cigars emptied, and all the tobacco that was handy was carried away.

The money drawer was pried open, but there was nothing in it except a few coppers. The footprints of the thief were plainly visible in the rear of the store, but beyond this there is no clue.
