ERIE RAIL ROAD SCHEME.--The meeting of persons favorable to the construction of the New York and Erie Railroad, which was called yesterday at the Merchants' Exchange, at two o'clock, ended in the assemblage of about fifty persons, loafers and boys included.

Resolutions were read by Mr. Davis, for the appointment of a Committee of Delegates to go to Ithaca. The names of the Committee, consisting of more persons than were present, were then read by R. C. Wetmore; and after a few remarks by Mr. Lawyer Blunt, the meeting adjourned.

It is now time for the public to have a meeting on the subject of Internal Improvement which will be a benefit to the public rather than knot of speculators.
