Red Sox Sink Indians, 3-2

BOSTON - INS) - Joe Dobson's four-hit pitching gave the Boston Red Sox a 2 to 1 victory Friday in the first half of a day-night double header with the Cleveland Indians.

It was the Red Sox' fourth straight win on their current home stay. They defeated Rookie Mike Garcia, who previously had beaten them three times in as many tries.

Garcia allowed only seven hits, but doubles by Vern Stephens and Al Zarilla and a single by Bobby Doerr scored two runs in the fourth inning.

The Indians never made more than one hit in any inning off Dobson, and they got only one man to third base in the first seven innings.

Thurman Tucker walked in the eighth and scored the lone Indian run on Dale Mitchell's single, Lou Boudreau's sacrifice and Joe Gordon's infield out.

The defeat left the Indians only two and one-half games ahead of the climbing Red Sox.
