Changes In the Adjutant-General's Office,
General Richard C. Drum, Adjutant-General, U. S. A., has made the following changes in the duties of officers of his bureau: General Chauncey McKeever, lieutenant-colonel and assistant adjutant-general, is relieved of the duties pertaining to the miscellaneous branch and placed in charge of the enlisted branch, to which is added the recruiting-service branch: Colonel Samuel N Benjamin, major and assistant adjutant-general, who reported July 1 from Arizona for duty. Is placed in charge of the miscellaneous branch (his duties before being relieved here in 1878): Major Merritt Barber, just appointed assistant adjutant-general(from captain Sixteenth Infantry), who has been for some time on duty in the Adjutant-General's Office as assistant to General George D. Ruggles, is temporarily in charge of the pension branch since the retirement of Major Azor H. Nickerson, and will be formally assigned to that duty when commissioned. These changes leave Colonel Henry C. Corbin, major and assistant adjutant-general, without specific duties. and he will be relieved from the Adjutant-General's Office in a few days and ordered to headquarters Department of Arizona, at Fort Lowell. Colonel Corbin was recently in charge of the enlisted branch
