HOW WE STAND

As Compared With Other Ohio Cities of
Like Importance to Canton.

Frequent inquiries are made of the News-Democrat of how Canton compares with cities of like importance throughout the state in population, bonded indebtedness and on the municipal tax levy. The following will give these facts plainly:

No figures for 1888 were obtained from Cleveland, Columbus, Springfield or Zanesville. The low levy of Springfield in 1887 was due, in part at least, to the fact that at the time the levy was made there was over $25,000 in cash in the treasury, all of which was used during the year.
