A coaster from Scituate passing a ship of war in the harbor doused its main sail, but the commanding officer, dissatisfied, sent a boat aboard. The officer drew a cutlass, struck the master on the cheek, cursed him for not showing more respect to the King's ship, and cut the main sail halliards.
