For $75,000
TOLEDO, O. (ANP) - The Pinkerton National Detective Agency in Toledo last week was sued for $75,000 on behalf of a 20-year-old former amateur boxer who claimed his fighting career was cut short when he was wounded by two guards employed by the agency.
The suit, filed in Common Pleas court, was brought for Ernest Jackson, 29, through his father, Robert.
It is alleged that the agency was negligent in employing and arming inexperienced men not accustomed to handling firearms.
Earlier, the former Golden Gloves boxer asked $25,000 from the two guards, Nathaniel Bush and Wesley L. Ferguson.
The incident which led to the shooting happened a year ago on the premises of Brand Whitlock Housing Project. The guards contended that Jackson attacked them when he and a girl friend were ordered to leave a parking area.
Jackson said the shooting was unprovoked. Charges and counter charges of assault and battery were dismissed in Municipal Court.
