Immense Irrigation Scheme.
Salt Lake, Utah, April 9.-An immense irrigation scheme is about to be inaugurated in Utah by the government, according to the statement of E. W. Ross, supervising engineer of the district comprising Utah and Idaho. Mr. Ross today informed the state commission that he had received instructions from Washington to begin the preliminary work at once. The plan contemplates making a reservoir of Utah lake. The cost will be about $5,000,000. It is estimated that a million acres will be irrigated adding $30,000,000 to the land valuation of the state.
