Imperial county's 36 rural school districts were given an opportunity Friday to save money by joining together in a plan for inspection of school buildings for earthquake damage.
E. L. Hitchman, county school superintendent, obtained bids from structural engineers, he said Friday, and if trustees of the various districts wish they may have the inspections done this summer, the repairs completed, and the cost put in the annual budgets.
"The inspections will be thorough," he said, "and will determine the structural sufficiency of the buildings and relieve the trustees of their personal responsibility in case of injury to school children."
