Between The Lines

The late L. K. Williams of Chicago, was a fine figure of a man beloved by millions. He did credit and honor to his race spent a most useful life in lifting millions of his fellowmen. He was a great leader and minister of one of the largest congregations of the world. Millions of Negro Baptists will remember him with affection and veneration. As president of the National Baptist Convention a mighty institution came to his death in a tragic accident which shocked the nation cause of his sudden death. He possessed one of the outstanding characteristics of the race and will be sincerely missed. His sudden and tragic death was not without its significance to the race. It ought to tempt them to reflect upon the status of their brethren. Dean E. James elected to the presidency in the recent convention of the denomination came to death to undermine the leadership during the Mt. Olive Baptist Association (Williams) and silenced attack one of the greatest leaders the race has ever produced.
