Case of Ralph Allen.-The adjourned case of Ralph Allen, charged with assaulting, on Sunday night last, John Collin, (not Connelly as heretofore stated,) on 1st, between Marshall and Broad streets, was called at the Mayor's Court yesterday, Alderman Evans presiding. Drs. Bolton, Snead and Fisher, physicians in attendance on the wounded man, were sworn. Dr. Snead stated that he was sent for on Sunday evening about 8 o'clock, to see Collin. He found him sitting in his house, unable to speak, but conscious of his situation. He had a severe wound on his head, apparently inflicted with a heavy bludgeon at one blow. He communicated by signs the manner in which he had received the wound. To a question from the doctor, whether a mule had kicked him, he shook his head, and to an enquiry whether the blow was given by a black man, he answered in the affirmative by a nod. The doctors severally stated that his skull was badly broken on the top of his head, and cracked for some distance down on one side in the direction of the ear. He is still unable to speak; and his situation considered extremely critical, the chances being against his recovery, although his condition does not appear worse than it did at first. There was nothing elicited during the examination to show who had inflicted the wound, or the causes which led to the assault- Thomas P. August appeared as the counsel for Mr. Allen. The case was further postponed to Monday next, in order to ascertain the final termination the injuries.
