Everything Quiet and Orderly at Huntington—A Threat of Trouble at Ceredo and Kenova.
HUNTINGTON, W. Va., July 15.—The authorities are in the dark as to the source of the warning given the sheriff last night which led him to ask for help from Governor Atkinson to prevent a lynching. There is no sign of a mob here, and there is no apprehension for the safety of Elias Hatfield, in jail here. An attempt was made last night at Ceredo and Kenova to organize a mob with the probable intention of lynching James Dudley, colored, in jail for killing Conductor Harper, on the Norfolk & Western train, a few nights ago, and it is thought that troops were wanted on that account.
