Full Text
Lord Blaney, at the head of 1000 troops, has pitched his camp at Fintona; he burns from ten to twenty houses every day, and so bent on the total destruction of the poor unfortunate people who may have incurred his displeasure, that he does not even suffer them to rescue their property from the devouring flames. The manner in which he proceeds in taking prisoners is by scouring the country with his dogs of war, for four or five miles round, driving the miserable people before him to any plain which his lordship thinks proper: he then takes out his list of informations, and swears every man to his name, such whose names he has on his list he lodges in the goal of Armagh. In short, there is nothing expected by the people here but that he will lay the whole country waste. In my next I shall give you a more particular account of the sufferings of the people in this part of the country.
