[From a Correspondent.]

"It is said that the American Royalists have been much embarrassed, as to the manner of evincing the sincerity of their grief for the "murder" of his most Christian majesty—Whether by muffling the bells, in all the large towns and cities, for the space of twelve months at least; or by cloathing themselves in the sable garb of mourners, on the occasion. The last mode has met the approbation of a majority; but a respect for men in power, which is characteristic of these mourning gentry, has deterred them from hastily putting their scheme in execution, until the court shall have time to lead the way.—It has been suggested, that, in order to show their marked abhorrence of the "murder" of Louis, they ought to burn in effigy, the six hundred and ninety three members of the convention, who sacrilegiously dared to declare their Sovereign guilty of those crimes which brought him to the scaffold. The mourners, it is said, would be inconsolable, did they not entertain the most sanguine hopes, that the accession of Great-Britain, Spain, Portugal, Holland, and the Germanic empire to the last year's combination of kings, will be sufficient to enable the duke of Brunswick, to put his last year's threats in execution; to "take an ever memorable vengeance" on the French revolutionists, by putting every man of them to the sword; and "totally to demolish the city of Paris, not leaving one stone standing upon another." It would be extremely hard that such laudable hopes should be disappointed!"

American Royalists embarrassed on how to show grief for the 'murder' of Louis XVI: muffling bells for twelve months, wearing mourning clothes (approved by majority but delayed), burning effigies of 693 convention members; hopeful for Duke of Brunswick's vengeance on French revolutionists with allied kings' support, demolishing Paris.
