Full Text

The students of the Academy in Monmouth, Maine, have a Society, the object of which is the promotion of ornamental Tree Planting. They have already done a good deal in the way of decorating the grounds about their Institution, as well as near their respective homes. Among all the schemes of this scheming age, and especially among all the crotchets which are apt to get into the heads of students, few combine so much innocent recreation with the promotion of permanent utility and beauty as this. The Society is called the Acernian from the Acer, or Maple, our beautiful forest tree. The terms of admission are to sign the Constitution and to plant a tree. Dr. Holmes of the Maine Farmer, lately gave these young men an excellent address.
