FAILS TO KEEP PROMISE.

Woman of Streets, Arrested Second Time, Goes to Workhouse.

Grace Laverne, a woman of the streets, told Justice Stein, Monday morning, that if he would release her on the charge of being a disorderly woman, she would go to work and make an honest living. She was picked up again Monday night by Patrolman Murdock McKenzie, and frankly admitted that she had been accosting men on the streets.

"I thought you were going to work," said the judge.

"I was, judge, but I was so tired," said Grace.

"You'll go to work now," said the judge, and he sent her to the workhouse for 30 days, without a fine.
