CITY GAZETTE OFFICE
Charleston, Jan. 12, 1815.

A Gentleman who left Savannah on Tuesday evening the 10th inst. states, that as he was coming away, news was received from St. Mary's, that a British fleet consisting of two 74 gun ships, four frigates, a razee and transports, with 5,000 Black troops on board, were off Amelia Island, with the supposed intention of taking possession of Cumberland Island. From my knowledge of the Gentleman who brings the intelligence, there is no reason to doubt the correctness of it.
