Accounts from Bombay state, the French corvette, Ambucade, mounting 22 guns to have been carried into Moambique. It appears that the corvette had captured three Portuguese vessels off the coast, and had manned them with the greater part of her crew, for the purpose of navigating them to the Mauritius, taking on board the officers and crews of the captured vessels. The latter, being superior in number, rose on the captors, and after a desperate conflict, in which ten Frenchmen were killed, possessed themselves of the corvette. The Portuguese immediately pursued the prizes, came up with, and recaptured them, and carried the whole in safety to Moambique.
