Full Text

HOT AS HADES.

In the bottom of the deep down shaft at the Virtue mine, the water is pretty warm, in fact it is hot; too hot for a man to take a bath, at least. This Ed. Borman, the night foreman of this mine, can testify to. On yesterday morning Mr. Borman had occasion to go down the shaft in the cage, and through carelessness or otherwise the cage was lowered into the sump. Before Mr. Borman could signal for a hoist, his limbs were burned by the hot water quite painfully.

Mr. Borman was brought to the city last evening for medical treatment, and is at the Warm Springs. His injuries are not serious. - Baker City (Oregon) Democrat.
