Intelligence has been received from Lisbon, at Gloucester, to November the 2d; at that time the two armies remained in the position they occupied at the period of our former accounts. The combined forces were distant from the City about 16 and the French 20 miles. From the late operations in Portugal, the fate of that country is far from being decided; it is not impossible but that Massena may effect the conquest this campaign--this he will endeavour to do by a desperate battle, victory or defeat will be the result--if the latter, it will be fatal to the French, as a retreat will be very difficult. The English army are said to be in high spirits and well supplied, whilst that of the French are in great want of provisions.
