MEETS TRAGIC DEATH.
Colored Man Killed in a Fall Down
Elevator Shaft in Factory.

George Stewart, colored, thirty-three years old, of Richmond, was killed Thursday morning about 7 o'clock when he fell down an elevator shaft in the P. Lorillard Tobacco factory at Twenty-fourth and Cary streets, south. Just how the accident happened no one seemed to know. It was said that Stewart started to go up in the elevator. A few minutes later he was heard calling for help at the foot of the shaft. He died soon after being picked up.
