It is already known, that communications have taken place between the patriots in the south of Spain and the garrison of Gibraltar. The following is one of the pleasing circumstances which formed a part of the intercourse which took place:--

The general of the patriotic troops sent to the governor of Gibraltar, requesting the loan of 50,000 cobs (a cob is 4s. 6d. sterling) to pay his men. The merchants understanding the nature of the request, did not permit it to reach its destination; but instantly subscribed the necessary sum, and dispatched it to the Spaniard by his own messenger!
