AND THEY PROPOSE TO ATTEND
COMMITTEE MEETING IN
FULL FORCE.
Richmond school teachers will storm the meeting of the ordinance committee to-night and it is likely that their presence on the scene will cause their petition for more pay to be given first consideration.
In fact, Chairman Umlauf, of the committee, admitted as much last night when he stated that the ladies had notified him that they would be on hand in full force. This means that the Fuller text book ordinance will probably be crowded off the boards for the time being. Some action, however, is expected on the Vonderlehr workhouse ordinance.
Personally, Chairman Umlauf expects this measure to be recommended favorably to Council. Consideration of the Lynch ordinance regarding admission of children into motion picture shows will be continued till a later date.
The school teachers asking for a raise in salary belong to the elementary grades. They desire their maximum pay to be fixed at $900 and their minimum at $500.
