In one of the most listless primaries ever held in Maryland in many a moon, Senator Millard E. Tydings made a runaway race of the Democratic Party's Senatorial contest, beating his nearest opponent, Willis R. Jones, by better than a five to one margin.
In the G. O. P. contest, Blanchard Randall, Jr., won out over Paul Robertson, incomplete returns giving him a majority of over two to one.
In Washington County less than 10 per cent of the registered voters went to the polls. Of those who did cast their ballots, the Democrats were overwhelmingly in favor of Senator Tydings, while on the Republican side, honors were about even, with some four hundred voters (as we went to press) splitting their vote almost 50-50 between Randall and Robertson.
