CINCINNATI:
SATURDAY OCTOBER 18, 1834.
THE ELECTION.
We were in an error, yesterday, when we stated that Lucas was behind Findlay in this county. The truth is, that in the Governor's election, we have gained a "GLORIOUS VICTORY."
Lucas has a majority, in Hamilton county, of 127. This shows, that if personal considerations and family jars have defeated Mr. Lytle, the pure spirit of democracy still reigns triumphant among us.
Below we insert the returns of this county, which show that the Jacksonians have been successful in their ticket, in the proportion of 8 to 5. They have given a majority to Lucas, and have elected Anderson and Bond for Representatives. They have elected a Jackson Coroner, a Jackson Auditor, a Jackson Commissioner, and a Jackson Recorder. Our opponents have beaten us in the Congressman, in the Senator, in two Representatives, and in the Assessor. On the whole, we have not been so outrageously used up, as we at first thought.
We have heard from some of the neighboring counties In Warren county, Mr. Houston, a whig, is elected Senator; and Mitchell, ditto, Representative.
In Clinton, C. B. Harland, democrat, is elected Representative; and in Greene, Robert Jackson, also democrats is elected. Joshua Yeo, whig, is elected Senator in these two counties.
In Clark, William B. Cushing, whig, is elected Representative.
In Butler, William B. Vanhook and Mr. Enyart, both democrats, are elected Representatives; and E. Vance. democrat, Senator.
In Clermont, Samuel Medary, democrat, is elected Representative. In ten townships, Lucas stood 1151, and Findlay 497.
In Franklin, Reed, a democrat, and Grubb, a whig, have been elected Representatives.
The election of Hons. Taylor Webster, T. L. Hamer and Jeremiah M'Lene, is considered certain.
ELECTION RETURNS.
The following is a statement of all the votes given in the county, for each candidate named. Those marked with a star (*) are elected. Thus it appears that Storer's majority is only 96; and that, instead of Findlay having a majority of about 60 over Lucas in the county, as was supposed yesterday, it turns out that Lucas has a majority of 127 over Findlay.
