The gala opening of the New Chicora Country Club golf course has been set for Wednesday, August 13th, with a number of events taking place on the opening date.
An exhibition nine hole match will be played between four professionals from nearby clubs with a dutch barbecue supper being held after the match.
Prospective members and interested golfers are invited to attend the opening as well as the public.
Hal Jernigan, who will be pro for the newest in Dunn's recreational field, states that all the equipment for a swell golf course had already arrived.
Anyone interested in joining the club can contact Earl Jones, secretary-treasurer who will issue the stock to the new members.
The opening will see a long-time dream of local golfers come true along with a much needed asset for the community.
