Full Text
The Directors of the Huntsville and Glasgow Plank Road company held their first meeting at Roanoke, on Tuesday last. The entire board was present. N. B. Coates of Huntsville was chosen Treasurer and F. A. Savage of this place Secretary. They determined to commence the work at once, and as soon as a competent Engineer can be employed, the route will be surveyed, and put under contract. A call of $5 on the share was ordered, to defray the expense of the survey, and other incidental expenses. The best of feeling and unanimity prevailed, and those who have had doubts on the subject as to whether the road will be built or not, can now knock under. An Engineer will be on the route in a few weeks, and it will not take long to locate it.
