Full Text
Factory Libraries.—We are informed that the females in the manufacturing establishment in this town, are making arrangements for a public Library, for the use of themselves and their successors. It is a noble undertaking, and deserving the highest praise. We would not convert our Factory girls, or other girls into blue stockings; but we would have them convinced of the fact that they have minds capable of progressive improvement and high enjoyment. It is hoped the time will come, and soon, when a Library of well chosen, useful, and entertaining books, shall be considered an indispensable appendage to every manufacturing establishment in the country. And we trust the females of this establishment will have the distinguished credit of setting an example so worthy of all imitation.—Exeter News Letter.
