It caught in a flue or chimney, and the alarm was given by a neighbor, and the building was soon wrapped in flames. Mrs. Churchill hastened to get her children out of danger, and succeeded in getting all out but one, which was afterwards rescued from the upper story, nearly suffocated by the smoke. Through the exertions of helping friends Mr. C. was enabled to remove most of his furniture though a portion of it together with other articles were destroyed.
