Full Text
Take It Mildly.—Our friend at the other end of the hall growls like a dog with a sore head, because we pointed out the manner in which the Germans applied the thumb-screws to him and the balance of the American Republicans of this city; and gets churlish over it—calls us bad names, and accuses us of telling fibs. Don't let "your angry passions rise," neighbor, we know you are in a bad fix—a miserable situation, and that the Germans have you tight and all that, but you must take the consequences as they come. The humiliating corner into which the Germans have forced you can be appreciated by no person better than yourself. You have been there many times before.
