DEMOCRATIC STATE CENTRAL COMMITTEE.
We received last evening from Virginia City a private dispatch, announcing that the Democratic State Central Committee met in pursuance to the call of the Chairman and Secretary, and that a convention to consist of seventy-six delegates was called to meet at Carson on the 15th of May, to elect delegates to the National Democratic Convention to be held at St. Louis on the 25th of June; and a State Convention, to consist of 142 delegates, was called to meet at Virginia City on the 28th of August, to nominate candidates for Presidential Electors, Congressman, etc. The dispatch did not state the number of delegates to which Eureka county is entitled, but we presume the apportionment was made upon the basis of the legislative representation under the last census. The action of the committee in calling a convention instead of themselves electing the delegates to the National Convention, is, we believe, in accordance with the wishes of a large majority of the party in the State.
