DUBLIN-(INS) Americans and Canadians from coast to coast reaped sizeable fortunes Wednesday from winning in Irish sweepstakes tickets on the Cambridgeshire handicap at Newmarket, England.
Before taxes winners of $140,000 included the following holders of tickets on the winner, Stephanotis.
Mr. and Mrs. John Clark, Jr., 117 No. Woodlawn Ave., Greenville, N.C.
Clara Schubel, 2756 Park St., Louis, Mo.
More than a score of Americans also shared in the winnings of the second place horse, Heritiere, and the third placer, Fairy Stone.
Second place ticket paid $56,000 and tickets on the third horse paid $28,000 before taxes.
