The English authorities will now have a taste of their own kind of medicine that they have been administering to the American fishermen in Newfoundland and Nova Scotian waters. The United States revenue cutter Corwin has seized three British schooners in Alaskan waters for catching seal within the limits of territory belonging to the United States. The seizures were made some three weeks ago, since which time the crews of the vessels have been prisoners, and will remain such until the question is decided and adjusted by the two governments. The affair will be very likely to hasten a settlement of the fisheries controversy even if it should do no further good.
