The Hamilton Co-operative Trades and Labor Council held its regular meeting Tuesday night. Ralph Morningstar presided and twenty-five delegates answered the roll call.
Legislative letter No. 19, of the Ohio State Federation of Labor was read. Phil Hanna, secretary and legislative agent gave his report on legislation for and against labor in Ohio.
The committee to meet with Walter Betscher, manager of the employment office asked for further time.
Matters pertaining to the cost and erecting the honor roll board was referred to the trustees.
Union tobacco labels were presented by the truck drivers and molders delegates. A challenge was made by the truck drivers at the last meeting that they would bring in more labels than the molders. The molders after the count, won having brought in 1,440, the truck drivers 1,290. These labels are to be sent to the Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company, Louisville, Kentucky, who have agreed to send one cigaret for every label to the men in service.
Two weeks from this meeting, June 22nd a meeting will be held by Trades Council to hear Robert Knee, attorney, Dayton, Ohio, explain his proposition to act as legal advisor for labor unions in Hamilton. The meeting will be held in the private meeting room at the Moose Auditorium. A committee consisting of Marion Davidson, Charles Elble, Ed Dulli and Joe Spaulding was appointed to go before the affiliated organizations and have them all to be represented. All organizations and members are invited at this meeting.
A motion was offered and carried that the A. F. of L. challenge the C. I. O. to bring in the most tobacco union labels.
The meeting adjourned early on account of the black-out.
