A contract has been made in this city, in which Dexter and Dimmick are concerned, for three or four millions on the Illinois river; but the success of this project, will depend not a little on Sargent and Colonel Tuthill.

Morgan and others, have attempted to purchase two millions adjacent to the Kentucky country, but Congress have refused this offer until the inhabitants are consulted; and signified, that no sales of land will be made for the ready money.

A large company in Maryland of which Mr. Gordon is the principal, have purchased five or six millions worth of Pennsylvania land property belonging to New York, but ceded to Mr. Francis, and bounded by Pennsylvania, New York, and Lakes Erie and Ontario.

Purchase the post of Niagara and the carrying trail lying on Lake Erie, hereby is to Presque Isle to the Pennsylvania line, the territory ceded to her by Congress. See the act and description.

We are bordering on Lake Erie, and 120 miles from lake to lake; four how car H. customs rend worthy.

I understand Congress have not yet determined on your memorial, but cannot anticipate that their decision will be very interesting to us now, as we have surprising from many as marked, as we were in a state and have become too powerful to suffer any control, on refuse to your happiness.

This is a majority of the Convention for this State, which meets at Richmond, Virginia, are opposed to the new government, yet I do believe this example of Virginia, will influence our determination. We have hardly stepped the decision of South Carolina, upon the whole I think the new government will be adopted."
