Annual Town Meeting
The town of Pittston held its annual town meeting Monday with E. M. McGugin as moderator. There was opposition for the entire slate of candidates, the contest for the position of school committee member being especially close, three ballots being required before a decision was reached.
The officers and appropriations follow: Town clerk, A. E. Lord; 1st selectman, E. R. Fore; 2nd selectman, George A. Sparrow; 3rd selectman, H. A. Warren; treasurer and collector, G. G. Cary; school committee for three years, J. E. Bodge; road commissioners, north side, B. M. Moulton; Kennebec side, John Crocker; east side, George Carver; auditor, W. E. Seekins; constables, G. G. Cary, L. L. Chapman.
Appropriations: Support of the schools, $2500; school books and supplies, $250; repairs on school buildings, $500; high school, $1000; highways and bridges, $2000; town officers, $700; contingent, $2500; Memorial day, $35; school committee, $30; state aid roads, $1066; gravel, $500; support of poor, $500; Pinkham bridge, $200.
It was voted to leave the question of the Togus bridge to the selectmen and the highway commissioners.
