COMMENCEMENT.
Yesterday, the anniversary of Commencement was celebrated at Cambridge, with the usual good order & sociability. At about 7 o'clock the newly raised corps of cavalry commanded by Capt. Amory, escorted his Honor the Lieut. Gov. to his Excellency's seat in Roxbury, where they breakfasted. After which his Excellency the Governor, his Honor the Lieut. Governor, with a large number of gentlemen in carriages, were escorted thro' this town to Cambridge, where they arrived about 10 o'clock and were received by the Fellows of the Corporation, Professors and Tutors, and conducted to the Philosophy Room—where previous business usual on this occasion was transacted. They then proceeded to the Meeting-house, where were assembled a very large and brilliant concourse of Ladies and Gentlemen from this and the neighboring towns.
The performances of the day were introduced by prayer by the Rev. President.
