WASHINGTON, Aug. 5.—President Wilson has abandoned his conferences with Senators on the covenant of the League of Nations and peace treaty until the high cost of living is solved. The President is giving all of his time to the problem, feeling that it transcends all other questions for the time being and is vitally wrapped up in reconstruction problems. Officials feel that prices will fall with increased production. The President believes that strikes will complicate the efforts to find a remedy and materially interfere with a solution of the problem.
