City Sewing Contest Copped By Math Teacher
Mathematics teacher, dress designer, seamstress and model all rolled into one is West's Mrs. Ruth Hale.
Mrs. Hale entered a sewing contest sponsored by local branches of an international sewing machine company and won first place in the city competition and placed high in district competition.
The dress which she designed, made and modeled, was of imported Egyptian cotton, white in color with a black pattern. Fashion features embodied in the dress included V-neck, short sleeves, long, fitted waist line and soft pleats.
Her chief out-of-school activity, besides sewing contests, centers around her pet boxer "Gusty", who was recently admitted to a canine hospital .. he swallowed a needle!
