Full Text
A parade held on Friday night in support of the continuance in office of Gov. de Castro, and in which prominent members of the administration participated is viewed as the beginning of a vigorous effort by the Governor to stay in Government House.
It is generally believed that Governor de Castro, who several weeks ago announced his decision to quit, still wants to continue in office, and that Friday night's demonstration was staged with his knowledge and consent. The Governor, who earlier said he eagerly looked forward to his retirement, now refuses to say whether or not he still wants to resign.
It was said that if the Governor could prove to Washington that he has public support he would stand a good chance of staying on, and that the parade held for him was staged for that purpose, only two days after his return from Washington, where he had the opportunity to feel out his superiors.
