LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y.(ANP)
Conrad John Hopper has been appointed director of the UN as Economic, Social and Cultural organization Marbial Valley project in Haiti, the national commission reported this week.
To assist him, the Haitian government is reported to have appointed Emanuel Gabriel, former member of the UNESCO staff in Paris, as assistant director.
Hopper is a graduate of Oxford University. He has conducted adult education projects in the copper mining areas of northern Rhodesia. He also was director of education on the island of Mauritius.
The Marbial Valley project in Haiti was begun in 1947. It involves the improvement of conditions there for 28,000 peasants.
