Reese Inks Dodger Contract For '55

BROOKLYN (AP)—The Brooklyn Dodgers Thursday received the signed contract for 1955 of captain and shortstop Harold (Pee Wee) Reese, who hit better than .300 for the first time in his 12-year major league career last season.

Reese, the oldest National Leaguer in point of service, batted .309 in 1954 while hitting 10 homers.

Vice-President Buzzie Bavasi indicated that Reese received a raise, but as usual the terms of the contract were not revealed.

Reese, 35, told Bavasi by phone he would be willing to play any other infield position if Chico Fernandez or Don Zimmer, both highly touted, were to show to good advantage at shortstop in spring training.
