Marines Discharge 'Fighting Man,' 13

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 8 — (U.P.) — George B. Holle, 13, looked forward reluctantly today to returning to high school for a few years before rejoining the Marines.

Holle, who falsified his age to land a berth with the Marine Corps at the age of 12, received his "honorable discharge" from Lieut. Gen. Thomas Holcomb, Marine commandant in Washington.

The "honorable discharge" was granted, General Holcomb's statement said, "for the convenience of the government."

Young Holle enlisted in the Marine Corps a month before Pearl Harbor. He said he lied about his age and signed his guardian's name to the enlistment form. His discharge was given him at Goat Island in San Francisco Bay.

The youngster, who stands an inch over six feet despite his youth, said reports of his taking part in action at Midway and in the Solomons were false.
