The Montana Federation of Women's Clubs Convention was held at the Glacier Park Lodge the 7th, 8th and 9th of July. Thursday was Junior Clubs day of activities. Thursday night at 8:30 was the reception and friendship hour in the lobby. The Cut Bank Club were the hostesses.
Formal opening of the Convention was Friday morning. Mr. Paul Walk, Mayor of Cut Bank, presented the welcome to Glacier Park and Mr. Vic Overcash welcomed the conventioneers to East Glacier Park. Captain Demerest also welcomed the ladies to the Lodge in behalf of the Glacier Park Co., and presented the State President, Mrs. Cromer, with a gavel. At 11:00 a.m. a coffee break was held by the courtesy of the Sperry and Hutchinson Co. Dr. E. R. Beem gave an address on good buymanship for today's consumer.
Membership luncheon was at 1:00 p.m., presentation of membership awards and welcome to the mens clubs that have been organized in the last two years. Mrs. Louise Bushnell gave an address, "Have You Forgotten."
At 4:30 the East Glacier Park Woman's Club held a tea for the delegates and guests at their own club house. Over 200 attended the tea.
Friday evening was Sadie Miller night at the banquet. The banquet was in her honor as she is the Vice President of the National Federation. After the banquet the program was a series of slides on "This Is Your Life Sadie Miller." After the banquet the separate district meetings were held and installation of district officers.
Mr. George O'Conner spoke Saturday morning on communism in our own daily life. The Junior Clubs gave a vogue fashion show.
Saturday noon was the first awards luncheon. The community achievement awards were presented by Mr. Walter H. McLeod, Jr., from the Sears Foundation. Bridger was first, Billings, Jr. second, Great Falls third. Laurel fourth, and Ronan fifth. Mrs. B. V. Todd, chairman of Safety Division of Great Falls Woman's Club, gave an address entitled 4-2-3-3-7-5. Eleven resolutions were passed.
Saturday evening was the banquet honoring Mrs. Dexter O. Arnold, second vice president of the National Federation. Her address was "The Future at our Fingertips."
The music for this banquet was furnished by the Cut Bank Woman's Club. The district presidents were introduced at the banquet and the 1960 and 1962 officers of the Montana Federation of Women's Clubs were installed.
The Cut Bank Woman's club were hostesses for the convention. There were many fine comments made on the Cut Bank women's courtesy, friendliness and cheerful planning to make the convention run so smoothly.
