Ed. Peary Gets Thirty Days in Jail for being Drunk and Disorderly--Case Will be Appealed

The trial of Edward Peary, charged with being drunk and disorderly and resisting an officer, was held before Judge Palmer yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock.

The prisoner plead guilty and threw himself on the mercy of the Court. He stated that he had been working in a local restaurant the day before he was arrested and had started drinking there. After he left the restaurant he had visited several saloons where he had obtained additional liquor.

Marshall Schrader stated to the court that when he took Peary into custody, the defendant was standing in front of one of the saloons using obscene language and that he was badly under the influence of liquor. Upon his arrest Peary put up a violent resistance and was jailed with difficulty.

Owing to Peary's youth Judge Palmer was more lenient with him than otherwise have been, and gave him a jail sentence of 30 days.

Notice of appeal was filed by the defendant's brother, Brent Peary.
