Full Text

MISSISSIPPI WHEAT.--Our readers are mostly aware, we presume, that some excellent wheat was grown in Hinds county last season. Dr, D. O. Williams presented us with specimens of three different varieties--all of which were as fine as we have seen in any of the wheat growing sections of the country. It may not be known, however, that in many of the counties further south than this. the planters raise enough of wheat for their own consumption. This, however, is the fact. Even as far South as Marion county, they have their bolting cloths attached to every mill, for the manufacture of flour. The Representative of that county. Gardner Holcomb, Esq., informs us that he raised fifty-three bushels the last season. In the interior counties to the Northward and Eastward, wheat is raised in great quantities.--S. W. Farmer
