and Slander.

New York, Oct. 21.--The Berlin Local
Anzeiger publishes savage and ground-
less denunciations of Great Britain, and
alleges that the troops at Middleburg
placed Boer women and children beside
the cannon to prevent the Boers from
firing.
A correspondent remarks that the Ber-
lin Post, in spite of these daily orgies of
the British press "not to sow the seed of
mistrust of Germany in Europe."
The dispatch adds that one day it is
Great Britain, the next the United States
that is singled out for denunciation. The
Kreuz Zeitung says the Spanish-Amer-
ican war has done more than anything
else to open the eyes of the Latin states
of America to the fate preparing for them
by the Anglo-Saxon North.
