TWO MEN, WOMAN AND TWO CHILDREN DIE WHEN CAR IS TURNED INTO WRECKAGE
REIDSVILLE, N. C., October 1 - (AP) - Five persons were killed instantly early last night at Turner's Crossing, one mile south of here, when their automobile was struck by a southbound passenger train.
The dead are:
Charles Lucas, 50, farmer.
Mrs. Charles Lucas, his wife, 48.
Two children, Alice, 16, and Roger, 13.
L. G. Johnston, 35.
The Lucas family and Johnston were leaving the tobacco jubilee held here today, for their home near Benaja, eight miles south of Town View, when the passenger train, No. 15, struck their car, hurling their bodies in all directions and leaving the car a twisted mass of wreckage.
The conductor stopped the train, hailed a passing automobile and drove to Reidsville to report the tragedy.
It is thought death to all five was instantaneous.
