Admiral Pocock has had another engagement with the French fleet in the East-Indies, the 10th of last September, off Point Pedro, on the Island of Ceylon; the enemy's force consisted of 11 ships of the line, and ours but 7; and after a long and obstinate fight the French were obliged to run. The number of killed and wounded on board each of his Majesty's ships are as follows; Elizabeth 77, Newcastle 112, Tiger 168, Grafton 83, Yarmouth 39, Cumberland 52, Salisbury 36, Sunderland 2, Total 569. The enemy lost upwards of 1500 men killed and wounded.

Since the engagement Admiral Pocock has been joined by Admiral Cornish with 4 ships of the line. The French have been beaten several times by land, and every thing goes well in that part of the world.
