GEORGETOWN, APRIL 27, 1841.
NEW YORK ELECTION.
The charter election took place in the city of New York on the 13th instant, when Robert Morris (dem.) was elected Mayor by a majority of 396; and 20 democrats and 14 whigs were elected to the Council. Mr. Morris had been removed from the Recorder's office by Gov. Seward for the manner in which he had exposed the pipe-laying frauds; and the voters of the city have manifested their disapprobation of the removal, by elevating him to a still higher office, out of the reach of the Governor.
